Eva (Odessa Young), a 19th-century widow, is faced with an impossible choice when a ship sinks off the coast of her remote fishing village in the middle of a particularly brutal winter. Eva and her crew must choose between saving the wrecked ship or surviving the winter on the last remaining food. Faced with the consequences of their choices and racked by guilt, the population struggles with a growing sense of fear and begins to believe that they are all being punished for their choices.
