If you’re looking at the show through a narrative lens, the pieces don’t quite fit together
Chronology
It follows three very different families who compete to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style villa that they believe will solve all their problems. The exterior shots of the house are similar to the one Mitchell and Cam lived in on Modern Family .
There were a lot of confusing leads
We delve so deeply into each character’s backstory that the overall story doesn’t feel strong enough to stay on track. It all comes together at the end.
It would definitely be stronger without the cast
There are a lot of familiar faces, so I understand why they did that. There were a few weak characters, both in terms of writing and acting.
Some of the others seemed to struggle with balancing comedy with drama
