Men and women live in a giant underground silo with various regulations they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic, ruined world above. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book “Wool” – the book has 82 chapters. The fans on the floor in several episodes spin in the wrong direction, relative to the orientation of the blades. Spinning this way doesn’t push or pull air. Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 TV Shows of 2023 You Need to Watch (2023). It’s an interesting look at the history of the underground bunker, of a people who have survived underground for so long that a civilization has arisen within it, with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies that are rooted in events that have been forgotten, and a status quo social structure is founded. And when this order-preserving status quo is challenged, execution and punishment follow. A power structure forms, creating a stratified population, both figuratively and literally, from top to bottom of the silo. That’s the premise, and while it’s not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here that it feels well-executed for a TV series. Good acting from Oyelowo, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (Though, as you can see from the show’s poster, they’re guest stars who will be replaced by the regular cast, with Rebecca Ferguson starring.) The show looks to be a pretty decent one, with good production values. There are elaborate sets and good CGI to provide a believable atmosphere. While a suspicious mind might spot some obvious conspiracies early on, there are mysteries being uncovered that will keep me watching.
